Upper-Room Ministries was formed by a group of laypeople who have a passion for spreading the gospel of Jesus Christ by meeting the physical and spiritual needs of the people both locally and globaly.
In 2003, following a couple of youth mission trips to Mexico, founders Ronnie Gentry, John and Terri Downing, and Tony Smith were called to form Upper-Room Ministries. We served in Mexico, for several years, as well as taking teams to some of the disasters that struck the United States since 2003. Project Lunchbox was launched shortly after the beginning of our ministry, as a tool to reach more kids with the love of Jesus Christ and has been a huge success in spreading the gospel.
Currently, our primary focus is in Choluteca Honduras where we have been working extensively. We have built upwards of seventy new homes, a church, and remodeled homes and medical buildings. We have also lead several medical missions there, where thousands of people have been treated. We have partnered with New Beginning Baptist Mission, in Choluteca, and have a child sponsorship program inwhich children are provided with the means to receive an education.
We continue to work locally, as well, with our Fields of Hope program, disaster relief and several other mission opportunities. We strive to lead people to the saving grace of our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, first and foremost by providing them with the physical, emotional and spiritual needs to live victouriously. Our goal is to provide opportunities for believers to carry out The Great Commission.
